Poster, Suite for Flute/Piano

This is a Poster. It is dated 1970–81 and we acquired it in 1981. Its medium is offset lithograph on paper. It is a part of the Drawings, Prints, and Graphic Design department.

Roger Huyssen’s playful artwork on this poster originally appeared as a design for a record album cover. Huyssen cleverly engages the classic idea of a suite of music by animating the forms of the piano and flute and showing them smoking together in a hotel suite.

It is credited Gift of Various Donors.

Its dimensions are

71.2 x 50.9 cm (28 1/16 x 20 1/16 in.)

It is signed

Signed in printed black ink, to lower right of bedside table: ROGER / HUYSSEN

It is inscribed

Printed in black, lower left: Richard H. Childers Productions / Published and distributed by Portal Publications, Corte Madera, Calif.; in black, lower center: SUITE FOR FLUTE/PIANO / Reproduction of original painting by Roger Huyssen; in black, lower right: APW 069 / LITHO IN U.S.A.
