Triad Vase

This is a vase. It was designed by Robin Mix and made by Tunbridge Glassworks. It is dated ca. 1985–86 and we acquired it in 1987. Its medium is mold blown and cased glass with applied glass thread. It is a part of the Product Design and Decorative Arts department.

This vase by Robin Mix, one of a set of three, is hand-blown and formed with a mold. Each vase is unique, with an irregular triangular shape and surface. Mix studied as an apprentice in Europe, learning techniques from Venetian and Scandinavian glass masters, and brought this knowledge of firing and coloring to his own studio in Vermont. Not content with the results of commercial dyes, Mix customizes each hue with shades not normally found in American glass objects.

Its dimensions are

40 x 15 x 15 cm (15 3/4 x 5 7/8 x 5 7/8 in.)

It is inscribed

Engraved on underside of base: "Mix 1987"
