Textile (England)

This is a Textile. It is dated 1830s and we acquired it in 1986. Its technique is roller printed on cotton plain weave; printed by a machine with 7 rollers using both relief and engraved surfaces; glazed surface. It is a part of the Textiles department.

It is credited Museum purchase from Au Panier Fleuri Fund.

Its dimensions are

Warp; 231 cm (91in. - 7 ft. 7in) by weft (selvedge to selvedge) Pattern: Height of repeat: 13 3/4 in. Arranged as a half-drop. The rollers were wider than the fabric. 1 1/4 inches of the motif are missing from 2 full units of pattern.
