A rectangular embossed piece of leather with a central motif of a floral bouquet in an urn. The urn rests on top of a lambrequin; a short decorative drapery for a shelf edge. This is enframed by scrolling strapwork and foliage. The background is filled with varying forms of trellis work.

This is a sidewall. It is dated ca. 1750 and we acquired it in 1989. Its medium is leather. It is a part of the Wallcoverings department.

It is credited Museum purchase through gift in memory of Josephine C. Howell and through bequest of Edith M. Henderson and from Sarah Cooper-Hewitt Fund.

Boxy leather club chair with large, simple rectangular sides and thick square cushion. Stylistically plain but sumptuous, its rich tan leather has an orange tinge, described as sienna. The bulky base of the chair rests on short, tapered woodblock feet.
