Creamer from "Intourist" Tea Service ("Leningrad 1935" Pattern) Creamer

This is a creamer. It was designed by Varvara Petrovna Freze and Eva Zeisel and manufactured by Lomonosov Porcelain Factory. It is dated Designed 1933 (shape), 1935 (decoration) and we acquired it in 1989. Its medium is porcelain, vitreous enamel, gold. It is a part of the Product Design and Decorative Arts department.

It is credited The Henry and Ludmilla Shapiro Collection; Partial gift and partial purchase through the Decorative Arts Association Acquisition and Smithsonian Collections Acquisition Program Funds.

On underside: [1] Laurel wreath surrounding uppercase Cyrillic above the outline of a vase flanked by the numbers 19 and 37 stamped in orange orverglaze (Lomonosov mark for 1937) [2] 'V. Freze’ (in cursive Cyrillic) hand-painted in black overglaze [3] "Leningrad 1935"' (in cursive Cyrillic) hand-painted in black overglaze [4] Hammer, sickle, cog stamped in green underglaze (faint)
