Sidewall, Tablett (Little Table)

This is a sidewall. It is dated 1929 and we acquired it in 1990. Its medium is machine-printed paper. It is a part of the Wallcoverings department.

The design consists of a pair of shelves as viewed through a glass cabinet or cable suspension. Drawn with an unusual perspective, the shelves contain a variety of objects including flasks, boxes, and a vase or ewer. There is also an open box with a piece of jewelry dangling over the edge, sitting next to a real or sculptural apple that is missing a bite. These last two articles suggest activity within the room, something not normally alluded to in a wallpaper.

It is credited Gift of Cincinnati Art Museum.
