Pleated Fan (France)

This is a Pleated fan. It is dated 1880–1900 and we acquired it in 1990. Its medium is silk net leaf embroidered with spangles and appliquéd with painted silk panels, carved and pierced tortoise shell sticks with gold foil and inlaid piqués, gilt metal bail, faceted stone at rivet. It is a part of the Textiles department.

This object was donated by Sheila Bruce. It is credited Gift of Sheila Bruce.
