Sidewall (Canada)
This is a sidewall. It is dated 1948–58 and we acquired it in 1991. Its medium is machine printed on textured paper. It is a part of the Wallcoverings department.
Large-scale vining tropical plants became a popular and dramatic wallpaper trend in the 1950s. The bold patterning of the monstera foliage printed against a stark white background reflects the mid-century homeowners interest in sun rooms and the indoor-outdoor lifestyle of warmer climates. These designs could be used on all four walls or to create a focal wall with a coordinating pattern on the remaining three.
