The pale grey mouse holds a pale blue fan and wears a loose orange-red robe patterned with pale blue dots and a pink scarf at the neck. At left, the low wooden bench is backed by tall bamboo-like grasses, and rests against a pitted pale grey-brown rock. Short green grass edges the rock and accents the white field to the right of the bench, below the mountain.

A round, white, porcelain plate. In the center a mouse, dressed in a pale blue striped shirt and bright pink shorts with turquoise spots, dives into water from a craggy, brown rock with green reeds growing from it. Another mouse swims to catch a falling purple gress and straw hat on the left, and a the hands of a third mouse can be seen emerging from the water on the right, with suggestions of splashes its hands. The plate is edged with a gold decorative border.

A glazed porcelain french plate with a gold scalloped rim, manufactured by Pillvuyt and Vie, in 1880. It appears to be one of a series of fanciful renderings of mouse figures in various scenes in nature. The plate features a landscape with a steep mountain oriented to the right side of the plate where the dominant scene of the plate is focused. Portrayed are two mouse figures climbing this mountain. They appear tired and weary. One mouse dressed in rose pink with polka dots of yellow and trimmed in green, is holding a yellow hat in one hand and a walking stick in the other. There is a sense of weariness and exhaustion in the facial expression of this mouse as it appears to contemplate the arduous trip up this steep mountain. The other mouse’s face is angled away from view and is seen wearing its yellow hat and holding a walking stick with two hands also appearing exhausted. This steep mountain which is white is seen with green plantings and leaves of various sizes and shades. Plants with purple flowers on the right of the mouse figures decorate the plate further. In contrast to the strong and colorful depiction of the two mouse figures, the background is all faintly rendered. On the scene’s far left is a pale simply outlined house with rooftop and windows. Beyond the house is a faint view of a wood-like setting with a variety of trees. Shown in the rear distance, is a subtle view of mountain ranges. In the front bottom of the scene are droppings of leaves in shades of green.

A round white porcelain plate with a delicately-painted enamel scene and a scalloped rim with a gilt geometric border. The whimsical landscape portrays a pale grey mouse in the center left foreground holding a small pale brown stringed instrument and wearing a bright rose pink patterned jacket with green trim. The mouse sits on a thick pale brown tree stump with dark brown markings and splayed roots, which are surrounded by fern green leaves. Pale blue-grey and yellow birds swoop above and below the mouse, who looks up to its right at them. A white and pale grey-brown mountain peak sits on the horizon in the right background, with low spring green foliage at its base. The sky and ground are lightly shaded with pale grey washes.
