Textile (France)

This is a Textile. It is dated ca. 1790 and we acquired it in 1994. Its technique is block-printed with resist paste on plain weave foundation. immersion dyed in indigo vat. It is a part of the Textiles department.

This object was donated by Cora Ginsburg. It is credited Gift of Cora Ginsburg.

Its dimensions are

H x W: 53.5 × 63.5 cm (21 1/16 in. × 25 in.) Repeat H x W: 18 × 12 cm (7 1/16 × 4 3/4 in.)

It is inscribed

On back of fabric: " BLANC TEINTE LES DRAPS ET INDIENNE EN TOUTES SORTES DE COULEURS A JUSTE PRIX A SAIN-BEL", and "227". Both are resist printed in white on a blue background.
