Poster, Grammo-Grafik [Record Graphics]
This is a Poster. It is dated 1957 and we acquired it in 2009. Its medium is lithograph on wove paper. It is a part of the Drawings, Prints, and Graphic Design department.
Swiss designers in the 1950s and 1960s used gridded layouts, sans-serif typefaces, and stark images. Italian designer Bruno Munari may have had this famous poster in mind when he mentioned "phonograph records" in his essay "Posters with a Central Image" (1966).
This object was featured in our Object of the Week series in a post titled Posters with a Central Image.
