Poster, Noc na Ziemi [Night on Earth]

This is a Poster. It is dated 1992 and we acquired it in 2010. Its medium is offset lithograph on wove paper. It is a part of the Drawings, Prints, and Graphic Design department.

Andrzej Klimowski asserts that for an illustration to be good, it must respond to its subject in new and innovative ways. His poster design for this film’s Polish release takes its basic plot of five vignettes, in five cabs, in five cities around the world, and abstracts it. His collage takes the viewer out into space to watch the cabs circle a globe, while a figure (perhaps the film’s director Jim Jarmusch) holds his gaze, as if the viewer has a private invitation to observe the action.

This object was donated by Marc Benda. It is credited Gift of Sara and Marc Benda.

Its dimensions are

96 x 67.5 cm (37 13/16 x 26 9/16 in.)
