Curtain, Peacock and Dragon

This is a Curtain. It was designed by William Morris. It is dated 1878 and we acquired it in 1985. Its medium is wool and its technique is twill with three wefts: dark and light blue used throughout and orange plusolive green in bands. the twill has two binding sequences; 1 z 3 on front and a 1 z 7 on back, producing diagonal ribs. It is a part of the Textiles department.

It is credited Museum purchase from General Acquisitions Endowment.

H x W: 257.8 x 160 cm (8 ft. 5 1/2 in. x 5 ft. 3 in.) Repeat H x W: 106.7 x 80 cm (42 in. x 31 1/2 in.)
