This object is not part of the Cooper Hewitt's permanent collection. It was able to spend time at the museum on loan from Smithsonian Libraries and Archives as part of Saturated: The Allure and Science of Color.
George Field stated, “. . . the most proper figure in which to illustrate the correlations of colours is the equilateral triangle.” His books also explored the harmonic relationship between color and music, and were owned by Hudson River School painters Frederick Church and Thomas Cole.
It is credited Gift of J. Townsend Russell, Jr.,Smithsonian Libraries, ND1488 .F453c 1817.
