Greeting Card, Season's Greetings

This is a Greeting card. It was designed by Ilonka Karasz. It is dated 1937 and we acquired it in 2016. Its medium is lithograph on paper. It is a part of the Drawings, Prints, and Graphic Design department.

This group of ephemera by Ilonka Karasz reflects the variety of her graphic production from the 1920s through the 1940s. It includes exhibition pamphlets announcing the presentation of her own work as both a fine artist and a designer, promotional graphics for events, and designs for a holiday card and a personal bookplate. Karasz was a sophisticated, prolific and mutable artist. Her graphic style evolved to suit the medium and the commission, but always retained the spirit of playfulness and a lyrical line, as evidenced in the diversity of these objects, which enhance Cooper Hewitt’s existing representation of Karasz as a graphic artist.

This object was donated by Marilyn Friedman. It is credited Gift of Marilyn Friedman.
