Textile, Unicorns

This is a Textile. It was designed by Emma Yarlekovic and produced by Associated American Artists. It is dated 1954 and we acquired it in 2016. Its medium is cotton and its technique is printed. It is a part of the Textiles department.

Emma Yarlekovic’s fantastical Unicorns design is a jumble of prancing unicorns and outsized sunflowers, line-drawn in black on a shocking-pink ground. Another version on a mottled ground of olive green, aqua, and dusty rose appeared in a Signature Fabrics advertisement in the February-March 1955 Vogue Pattern Book. (1)
