Panel, Patched metallic, 2017

This is a Panel. It was designed by Luisa Cevese and manufactured by Luisa Cevese Riedizioni. It is dated 2017 and we acquired it in 2017. Its medium is polyurethane, metallic yarns and its technique is cutting waste embedded in polyurethane. It is a part of the Textiles department.

Luisa Cevese works hard to avoid creating waste in her own production process. She practices “just in time” manufacturing, creating product only after an order for it has been placed. She embraces minor variations in the finished product, avoiding the enormous amount of waste created by standardization. And she cuts her materials efficiently by restricting herself to rectilinear forms for her bags and accessories. The small offcuts from her bag production are re-embedded in polyurethane a second time to create floor mats and rugs.

It is credited Museum purchase from General Acquisitions Endowment Fund.

Its dimensions are

H x W: 110.2 × 61.3 cm (43 3/8 × 24 1/8 in.)
