Booth that appears like a tall desk with raised sides and back. The raised sides and back are made from one continuous piece of material and have curved edges. They are tan on the outside. There is a deep grey panel, which appears about three feet up from the ground. It is angled towards where a user would stand. On this panel there is a tablet in an orange case. The screen is blue and shows an icon with red, white, and blue, stars and stripes. The bottom left of the panel has arrow keys to indicate up, down, right, left, and a button in the center, as well as other navigation keys. The upper left shows an item possibly connected to a wire. On the upper right there is a curved box that hangs off the back of the booth. Four thin, angled legs support the booth. A bar connects the back two legs.

Voting Booth, Los Angeles County Voting Booth Redesign, 2015–present

This object is not part of the Cooper Hewitt's permanent collection. It was able to spend time at the museum on loan from IDEO as part of Access+Ability.

It is dated 2015–present. Its medium is plastic, metal, electronic tablet, fabric, paper.

Designed for Los Angeles County as a modular system that can adapt over time, this voting booth exemplifies inclusive design, ensuring every citizen access to an intuitive and accessible voting experience. It addresses all voters, including those unfamiliar with technology and who speak languages other than English, voters with vision and hearing loss, in wheelchairs, and with learning disabilities.
