An assistive device in the form of a forearm prosthesis in black. It is in a non-traditional design with cues from decorative and fashion jewelry. The palm area is geometric in shape and has details cut in triangles and squares. The device extends to the wrist, followed by thin wires breaking the solid object into something see-through. The arm plates have circular punctures on the sides where a red ribbon is sewn through, creating a corset effect.

Assistive Device, Ivania 2.0

This is a Assistive device. It was designed by Evan Kuester and manufactured by 3D Systems.

This object is not part of the Cooper Hewitt's permanent collection. It was able to spend time at the museum on loan from Evan Kuester as part of Access+Ability.

It is dated 2014. Its medium is sls 3d-printed nylon 12.

Designed for a specific user, this assistive design was created to blur the boundary between jewelry and prosthesis, to complement an outfit rather than be used as a functioning hand. The intention is to look beautiful and perform simple functions, such as holding a wineglass at dinner.

It is credited Lent by Evan Kuester.

A 3D printed hand prosthetic in the form of a glove-like assistive device on a white background. The device and it’s other smaller components are in black. It has four fingers and an opening for the thumb area. The part for the fleshy mass on the palm, also known as the Thenar, breaks the solid black enclosure with a perforated design. The device extends from the palm to the wrist area, connected by several strings attached on punctures. The wrist plate is similarly designed to a thick open bangle.

A lower limb prosthesis on a gray background. In its prototype form, it is composed of leather, fiberglass, steel, resin, neoprene, and skateboard veneer. Its foot is slightly arched and is in beetween two solid black parts. The foot is attached to a steel ankle connected to a solid light brown lower leg. Two bolts on each end is attaches the lower leg to its solid backplate in black.
