In the back is a set of square bowls, each marked with gray hollow circles. Bowls are marked with 1, 2 and 3 of the circles from left to right. The flat wooden storage board have dents matching the bottom of the cups, securing the cups when stored. In front of the square bowls is a set of measuring cups. The cups take different shapes and colors with easy to grip handles. From left to right: a red pentagon measuring 1 cup, yellow square measuring 1/2 cup, light green triangle measuring 1/3 cup, and a dark teal circle measuring 1/4 cup. The kitchenware are all made of plastic and each of the storage boards have the word “match” printed on the lower-left.

Match Cooking Prep System

This is a Match Cooking Prep System. It was designed by Amanda Savitzky.

This object is not part of the Cooper Hewitt's permanent collection. It was able to spend time at the museum on loan from Amanda Savitzky as part of Access+Ability.

It is dated 2012. Its medium is plastic, wood.

Savitzky designed this system to help her adult brother who is on the autism spectrum learn to cook for himself. To provide visual structure and routine, the measuring cups have easy-to-grip handles and come in four colors and shapes, each with a corresponding storage place in a wooden board. An iPad translates recipes into an interactive step-by-step slideshow, and ingredients are coordinated with the measuring cups.

A set of six playing cards for the card game UNO which are split into two rows. The top row has two cards which are both split in half, the first red and yellow, and the second green and blue. These cards also have the symbols for color blindness printed on them and the word corresponding to the color. The red half has a right-facing, right-angled, white triangle, and the word [RED] in white capitals; the yellow half has a white, diagonal line, and the word [YELLOW] in white capitals; the green half has a white, diagonal line with a small, left-facing, right-angled white triangle below, and the word [GREEN] in white capitals; and the blue has a left-facing, white, right-angled triangle, and the word [BLUE]. The bottom row has four cards which are blue, with a number 0 on it; green with a number 2 on it; yellow with a number 4 on it; and red with the number 5 on it. Each number is encased in a eliptical shape with a white border and has a smaller version of the number in the top left corner; the red card also has a number 5 in the bottom right corner.
