Since traveling to Finland as a teenager, Japanese fashion and textile designer Akira Minagawa has felt a deep connection to Scandinavian design and culture, particularly in the strong influence of nature. Lumi means snow in Finnish, and this textile evokes snow flurries against a night sky. A silk ribbon flocked with white dots is woven into a deep blue wool base. Its ends are left to flutter, giving a subtle movement.
