Elephant Vase
This is a Elephant Vase. It was manufactured by Etablissement Gallé. It is dated 1918–31. Its medium is molded, carved and overlaid glass.
Artisans in the workshops of Émile Gallé and Daum Frères often chose naturalistic motifs depicting wild animals such as the elephants and gazelles carved on these examples from the 1920s.
It is credited Lent by The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston. Gift of J. Brian and Varina Eby, 73.94.
