This is a Pendant Watch.

This object is not part of the Cooper Hewitt's permanent collection. It was able to spend time at the museum on loan from Neil Lane Collection as part of The Jazz Age: American Style in the 1920s.

It is dated 1927. Its medium is diamonds, platinum, pearl.

What appears to be an elegant lapel brooch is in fact a pendant watch. The watch is hidden on the underside to enable a woman to check the time surreptitiously, in an era when women were starting to join men in wearing watches.

It is credited Neil Lane Collection.
