This is a table. It was designed by Joris Laarman Lab.

This object is not part of the Cooper Hewitt's permanent collection. It was able to spend time at the museum on loan from Joris Laarman as part of Joris Laarman Lab: Design in the Digital Age.

Uniquely composed furniture in the form of a chaise with a skeletal foundation and a solid top. The object is composed of polyutherine and rubber. It is opaque and is in a frosted white color. The seat is in a slanted v-shape with a deep curvature on one side. Various points of the body are attached to support legs that meet in one of the three points touching the floor. Spaces in between these supports are hollow creating the skeletal look of the furniture’s foundation.

This line drawing illustrates a long table with curved, arched legs, seen from the side. The simple black lines are sketched on a white background. The legs curve down toward the center of the table and continue up in an arch supporting the tabletop, with four narrow struts connecting the tabletop and arc of the legs. The very ends of the table curve down slightly to flow into the legs. The overall design of the table resembles a curvilinear bridge. The drawing is labelled with handwritten notes and measurements. At upper left: 'the bridge table / Experiment with extremely durable high gloss table top like mirror but unscratchable due to HVOF plasma spray and mirror finish diamond polishing on a large flat/slightly curved surface.' Above the table: 'HVOF tungsten carbide', 'to fit at least 12 persons'. Length and height arrows read '380 cm' and '75 cm'. The points where the legs meet the floor are labelled 'fix'. At lower left: 'Aluminium construction ACP 5080 based on Youngs modulus'.

It has varying sized rectangular and square platforms that are raised by different branches. The branches extend both left and right and the platforms are arranged in a way that subtly creates a triangular overall shape.
