Digital Animation, Le Mois du Graphisme à Échirolles

This is a Digital animation. It was designed by Philippe Apeloig and music composed by Maurice Ravel and published by Centre du Graphisme et de la Communication Visuelle. It is dated 2008 and we acquired it in 2013. Its medium is digital animation, 1.12 mn. It is a part of the Digital department.

This animation, designed in 2008 to promote a graphic arts festival held annually in Échirolles, a small town in France, reflects Philippe Apeloig’s longstanding interest in dance. The text first emerges as flat gray letterforms. As the individual letters grow and recede in tandem with the music of Maurice Ravel, their colors transform to multi-layered pink, purple, black, and white. The animation varies with each musical note, emphasizing the near-abstract forms of each letter against their legibility as a whole group.

It is credited Gift of Philippe Apeloig.
