Drawing, Designs for Wall Sconces

This is a Drawing. It was designed by Ettore Sottsass. It is dated 1989 and we acquired it in 2013. Its medium is graphite, color crayon on cream paper. It is a part of the Drawings, Prints, and Graphic Design department.

These two drawings relate to a 1989 commission from the Yamagiwa Art Foundation, Tokyo, awarded to Ettore Sottsass for lighting fixture design. For the standing lamps (2013-24-11), the sketch with the green color crayon beside the encircled number “16” was fabricated. Among the wall sconce designs (2013-24-12), the company chose to fabricate a version of the two drawings in the middle of the upper part of the sheet.
