This is a Wedding shirt, pants, scarf, pochette, and jewelry. It was designed by Shakeel's Boutique.

This object is not part of the Cooper Hewitt's permanent collection. It was able to spend time at the museum on loan from Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco as part of Contemporary Muslim Fashions.

It is dated 2001. Its medium is silk, silk chiffon, metallic embroidery with metal coil, sequins, and glass beads. It is a part of the department.


San Franciscan modest stylist Saba Ali traveled to Pakistan to have her wedding ensemble made. She reveals, “My parents hail from India and Pakistan, lands of dazzling textiles and handwork. I was born [in the United States], but the dress of these countries is a big part of my connection to my background.”
