Autonomous Drone Delivery System, 2014

This is a Autonomous Drone Delivery System. It was designed by WorkHorse. It is dated 2014. Its medium is carbon fiber, fiberglass, heat-resistant synthetic fiber. It is a part of the department.

HorseFly, a truck-launched autonomous drone, has been successfully tested with United Parcel Service and now makes package deliveries to homes in the Cincinnati area. Designed to integrate with online e-commerce, the goal is for cost-effective, sustainable deliveries that reduce extra miles of driving. Once a package is delivered, the drone returns to dock on the delivery truck.

Close up photograph of a self-driving delivery robot on a paved road lined by trees and street lights. No other vehicles or people are visible and the impression is that the robot is in a pedestrian area or park. The device has simple, elegant, rounded lines. Its main body, resembling a box or ice cooler, is shiny white, with a downward curved white lid and a black trim. In the front, just below the lid, there is an array of cameras behind a transparent plastic shield. Further down, on the side, there is an array of what appear to be five LED lights. The robot has six black wheels, three on each side, with a yellow trim near the edge. In the front right corner, one black pole, possibly an antenna, extends vertically for approximately 2.5 times the height of the robot, and is topped by a red flag. The flag seems to be made of a hard material such as plastic or metal.
