A well-balanced vehicle in the form of a bicycle customized in the front for use with transporting a wheelchair and person, an option for mobility. A person rides the mostly steel framed vehicle with an electric motor pack attached to an outer frame surrounding the back tire. The front of the vehicle is a platform with smaller wheels than the back one, its function is to scoop up the wheelchair with or without a person to transport to another destination. The photograph is shot in daylight and the vehicle is riding on a sidewalk overgrown with greenery and trees in the background. The vehicle is facing right and the two smiling people are engaging the viewer and are wearing bluejeans and blue tops.

VeloPlus Wheelchair Transport, 2016

This is a VeloPlus Wheelchair Transport. It was designed by Van Raam. It is dated 2016. Its medium is steel frame with standard bicycle parts and components. It is a part of the department.

Most transportation networks do not accommodate the needs of people with physical, cognitive, and sensory disabilities. In New York City, only one third of the subways are wheelchair accessible, severely limiting people’s mobility. The VeloPlus wheelchair bike was designed for people to be transported in their own wheelchair and the platform tilts to become an on/off ramp.

A small-scale robot that one can ride, fabricated in dark gray aluminum and possesses an original configuration with three wheels, two in front and one in back. The body consists of two handlebars in black attached to a part that appears to be a small cylindrical head with an area where eyes would be in the shape of a strip appearing magnetic or digital. The long curved neck has a seat and is elegantly attached to the body beneath it and resembles a kangaroo; smaller head and larger lower body. There is one head light in the belly of the body and most of the weight is in the lower body, where the tires are attached. The front tire has six small lights and is attached to a hub. The back, or inside view of the second tire is also attached to a hub. The smaller back tire is protected by a fender. There is a leg installed on a diagonal that stabilizes the foot pedal. The Robot is photographed against a light gray ground and we can view the front and side simultaneously.

Wheelchair with articulating parts focused on portability. Its main color is navy and has some light gray and yellow smaller parts. It is composed of stainless steel and a variety of plastics, including, polypropylene, nylon and tpu. It features softer edges and simplified parts than a traditional wheelchair. At the back is an IV pole in steel with a yellow top. Several key features include: an arched hand grip for pushing, cushioned and curved back and seat upholstery, elongated arm rest and a textured footplate (lifted in the photo).
