Wrapped T-shirt, An Elite Is Inevitable. . ., 1984

This is a Wrapped T-shirt. It was designed by Jenny Holzer and graphic design by Bill Bonnell and made for WilliWear Productions.

This object is not part of the Cooper Hewitt's permanent collection. It was able to spend time at the museum on loan from Laurie Mallet as part of Willi Smith: Street Couture.

It is dated 1984. Its medium is screenprint on cotton; offset lithograph on paper, plastic. It is a part of the department.

The T-shirts were shown in an event at the Ronald Feldman Gallery in the summer of 1984. Wrapped in cellophane and mounted like posters, the one-size-fits-all wearable artworks were priced at 37 dollars.
