Book, Queen Victoria

This is a Book. It was written by Lytton Strachey and designed by E. McKnight Kauffer and published by Chatto & Windus.

This object is not part of the Cooper Hewitt's permanent collection. It was able to spend time at the museum on loan from Kristina Parsons as part of Underground Modernist: E. McKnight Kauffer.

Throughout the 1920s, Kauffer was sought after by a range of publishers. His modern interpretation lent itself to everything from royal biographies and classics to mysteries and manifestos. Kauffer proudly signed his book jackets as artworks, and, as with his posters, he approached each subject with a new style.
