Map, Comment sortir de Paris? (How Do You Get Out of Paris?)

This object is not part of the Cooper Hewitt's permanent collection. It was able to spend time at the museum on loan from Smithsonian Libraries and Archives as part of Sarah & Eleanor Hewitt: Designing a Modern Museum.

This map, found between pages of a Paris travel diary, identifies how to travel out of Paris. “Outlets of Paris” was intended to define the major routes by which to exit the city and eliminate “complete disorder” with respect to automobile drivers and cyclists, so that “every mode of transportation adopts the route that is proper to it.”

This object was previously on display as a part of the exhibition Sarah & Eleanor Hewitt: Designing a Modern Museum.
