Poster, Adventures of an Abandoned Child

This is a Poster. It was designed by Georgii Augustovich Stenberg and Vladimir Augustovich Stenberg. It is dated 1926 and we acquired it in 2014. Its medium is lithograph on paper. It is a part of the Drawings, Prints, and Graphic Design department.

The Stenberg brothers created dozens of film posters in the Soviet Union in the 1920s. Using a projector they would enlarge frames from a movie, such as an actor’s face, and trace the image. This technique enabled the designers to control the scale and tonality of their images, and blend them seamlessly with type and abstract elements.

This object was donated by Merrill Berman. It is credited Gift of Merrill C. Berman in honor of Ellen Lupton.
