Sidewall, Soft Spots

This is a sidewall. It was designed by Grethe Sørensen and manufactured by Wolf-Gordon Inc.. It is dated 2014 and we acquired it in 2015. Its medium is digital print on vinyl. It is a part of the Wallcoverings department.

Cooper Hewitt has received a gift offer of one four yard length of Soft Spots designed by Danish textile artist Grethe Sørensen for Wolf-Gordon. Soft Spots contains a dotted pattern with gradated hues that produce a soft, unfocused look. The digital printing on vinyl allows for this very subtle color diffusion which feels ethereal and calming. Soft Spots was selected from a collection of three wallcoverings Sørensen designed for Wolf-Gordon as it was the most unusual of the three and representative of the designer’s other work. This collection for Wolf-Gordon is Sørensen’s first venture into commercial applications.

This object was donated by Wolf-Gordon Inc.. It is credited Gift of Wolf-Gordon Inc..
