Book Illustration, Sandwich Glass, plate XVII

This is a book illustration. It was written by Lenore Wheeler Williams and published by The Park City Eng. Co. and subject: Boston and Sandwich Glass Company. It is dated 1922. Its medium is photomechanical process on paper. It is a part of the Smithsonian Libraries department.

Sandwich Glass, a technical book for collectors, is a guide to what Williams considers to be superior specimens of Sandwich glass—pieces produced before 1853. According to Williams, later, Victorian cut glass was made to be sold cheaply, with garish decorations and in “ugly amber and blue and white.” Williams considers earlier pressed glass pieces, such as these candlesticks, much more delicate and precious.

It is credited Collection of Smithsonian Institution Libraries.

Its dimensions are

H x W: 18.5 × 14 cm (7 5/16 × 5 1/2 in.)
