Graffiti V-neck Tee And Pants, from Spring / Summer 2016 Ready-to-Wear collection

This is a Graffiti v-neck tee and pants. It was designed by Melitta Baumeister.

This object is not part of the Cooper Hewitt's permanent collection. It was able to spend time at the museum on loan from Melitta Baumeister as part of Beauty—Cooper Hewitt Design Triennial.

It is dated 2015. Its medium is paint on vinyl.

Taking graffiti from the urban landscape onto the runway, Baumeister adapts a rebellious code into wearable fashion, creating a piece that’s both soft and edgy. Glossy vinyl coated in graffiti is crafted into a loose-fitting top and pants. Drawn to a palette of black and white, Baumeister creates sculptural enclosures with a graphic impact.

It is credited Courtesy of Melitta Baumeister.
