Textile, Chrysanthemum
This is a Textile. It was designed by D.D. Tillett and Leslie Tillett. It is dated ca. 1960 and we acquired it in 2015. Its medium is silk and its technique is screen printed on plain weave. It is a part of the Textiles department.
Chrysanthemum could be considered the Tillett’s signature print, and was one of their best-selling designs for over forty years. The pattern of bunches of chrysanthemums, with its layered colors, is full of depth and complexity, yet retains the élan which characterized the Tillett style. The design was chosen by Jacqueline Kennedy for use in the family’s Hyannis Port home.
