Textile, Mechanism

This is a Textile. It was designed by Maharam Design Studio and produced by Maharam. It is dated 2009 and we acquired it in 2018. Its medium is 100% polyester and its technique is 3-d knitted. It is a part of the Textiles department.

The Maharam Design Studio is known for its many textile collaborations with fashion, graphic, and furniture designers as well as artists on a variety of projects. They also conduct their own research, engineering, design, and development of textiles for commercial and residential interiors. Balancing an appreciation of history with innovative interdisciplinary exploration, the studio focuses on utility, technology, tradition, and luxury.
Mechanism is a 3D knit with industrial refinement. A technical grid created by fine tricot knit and super bright filament yarn, Mechanism offers extreme metallic sheen in a range of thirteen colors, from saturated brights to sophisticated neutrals. Originally developed in Japan as a progressive automotive textile concept, Mechanism is engineered for all performance upholstery.

This object was donated by Maharam. It is credited Gift of Maharam.
