Dam C Coat, from Fall / Winter 2015 Ready-to-Wear collection

This is a Dam C coat. It was designed by Mary Katrantzou.

This object is not part of the Cooper Hewitt's permanent collection. It was able to spend time at the museum on loan from Mary Katrantzou as part of Beauty—Cooper Hewitt Design Triennial.

It is dated 2015. Its medium is wool, polyester, pvc, silk.

Katrantzou’s Dam C Coat is both elegant and inventive in its use of materials and textures. The red and magenta sleeveless bodice stands in contrast to the silver, shimmery skirt. The two pieces are smartly set off from each other by pink trim around the waist. A black placket collar finishes the piece at the neckline.

It is credited Courtesy of Mary Katrantzou.
