Ensemble, from Couture Collection #12

This is a Ensemble. It was manufactured by Rad Hourani.

This object is not part of the Cooper Hewitt's permanent collection. It was able to spend time at the museum on loan from Rad Hourani as part of Beauty—Cooper Hewitt Design Triennial.

It is dated 2014. Its medium is silk crepe, lamb leather.

Hourani uses sharp lines and minimal embellishment to create clothes meant to be worn by both women and men. Straight-legged pants and shorts, along with their companion jackets, tunics, and tops, are deliberately asexual and meant to focus viewer attention on the wearer, not on gender. The layering of these individual pieces creates an overall statement of harmony, while calling attention to the careful tailoring and studied silhouettes. Hourani’s Couture Collection #12 (2014) was the first unisex haute couture collection presented by an invited member of the Chambre Syndicale de la Haute Couture.

It is credited Courtesy of Rad Hourani.
