Textile, Cairo

This is a Textile. It was designed by David Adjaye and produced by Knoll Textiles. It is dated 2015 and we acquired it in 2015. Its medium is 38% recycled solution-dyed nylon, 32% rayon, 30% cotton and its technique is jacquard woven. It is a part of the Textiles department.

Cairo features a design of finely drawn concentric diamonds, inspired by the wrappers worn by the Kalabari people of the Niger River delta. It also incorporates a weave effect that replicates the drawn-thread embroidery used to create those textiles.

This object was donated by Knoll Textiles. It is credited Gift of Knoll Textiles.
