Valentine-Seaver Company

Valentine-Seaver was founded in 1899 in Chicago by Louis L. Valentine and W. J. Barnhart for the manufacture of upholstered furniture. In June of that year, Barnhart sold his interest in the concern to Andrew E. Seaver, thus the company became the Valentine-Seaver Company (incorporated October 18, 1899). Upon its inception, Valentine-Seaver was contracted to produce upholstered furniture for Chicago retailers, but in 1906 Valentine and Seaver established the Century Parlor Furniture Company for the production of frames to be finished in Valentine-Seaver upholstery. In 1927 the firm was acquired by the Kroehler Manufacturing Company.
