Apple Computer, Inc. was founded in 1976 by Steven Paul (Steve) Jobs, Stephen Gary (Steve) Wozniak and Ronald Gerald Wayne. Recognized for its innovations in the realm of personal computers, the company was renamed Apple, Inc., in 2007 to highlight the firm's shift in focus toward consumer electronics. It is during the firm's second period that the innovative, sleek, and unified designs of the iMac, iPod, and iPad (designed under the direction of Jonathan Ive) initiated Apple's second wave of success.
