Lawrence Weiner
Born in Bronx, New York 10 February 1940. Independent artist known for conceptual works incorporating verbal elements. Recipient: Deutschen Akademische Austauchdrerist (DAAD) Award, 1975 - 1976; National Endowment for the Arts Fellowship, Washington D.C., 1977, 1985; American Exhibition Prize, Art Institute of Chicago, 1979. Other exhibitions in 1980: Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago; Van Abbemuseum, Eindhoven, Netherlands; Centre d'Art Contemporain, Geneva, Switzerland; Anthony d'Offay gallery, London, England; Galerija Akumnlatory 2, Pozma, Poland; Leo Castelli Project, New York; Art & Project, Amsterdam.
