Achille-Louis Martinet was a Parisian watercolor draftsman and engraver who exhibited at the Salon from 1835 to 1876. He twice won the Prix de Rome, obtaining second place in 1826 and first place in 1830. He was made Knight of the Legion of Honor in 1846 and Officer of the Legion in 1867.
