The ubiquitous Swatch watch is manufactured by the Swatch Group, a Swiss conglomerate whose name is derived from a combination of the words “second” and “watch,” meaning not one's primary timepiece. The company introduced its first watches in 1983, at a time when digital timepieces were enjoying wide popularity. This is an analog Swatch wristwatch with a clear strap and transparent casing making the inner working mechaniesm uniquely displayed as the watch operates. This includes the gears, springs, cans, and the battery. The upper strap has a silver bar securing a plastic fastener while the bottom strap has several punctures for an adjustable fit. The watch’s body is in a clear and transparent enclosure with silver colored bars fastening both the upper and bottom straps. There is also a silver dial on the right side for adjusting the time. The face of the watch is outlined with an opaque circle containing dashes and the word is “Swatch” at the bottom center. The minute, hour, and second hands are in blue, red, and yellow respectively.
