Nest Labs was launched in 2011 by Tony Fadell and Matt Rogers, both alumni of Apple. Both left Apple in 2010 to start the company that would create the Nest Learning Thermostat. In an interview with Mashable, Rogers said “attention to detail, and detail everywhere” is a lesson he and Fadell took from Apple and brought to Nest. They focused on simplicity and making sure every detail, from packaging and marketing to interface and physical design, was right.
