A toned, vertical black and white photogravure book illustration on paper by noted twentieth century photographer Karl Blossfeldt. The rectangular image has a light, warm-gray background with a white border, and shows a carefully lit arrangement of minimalist Maiden Hair ferns. The page is numbered 55. The central binding as well as other pages and the blue border of the books' cover are visible to the right. The image of six dark, vertical Maiden Hair ferns with long, sensual curving stems with tightly spiraled heads, is artfully arranged in two rows of three, front and back facing in opposite directions, in a pyramid of descending heights, resembling a fan or musical notes.
