The Medallic Art Company is America’s oldest and largest private mint that specializes in making specialty medallions, academic awards, maces, and medals for schools and organizations. The company was founded by Henry Well, a French sculptor living in New York City, in 1903.

Round medal made out of silver-plated brass. Sections of the outer edges of the medal are embossed with text. “TO THE ADVANCEMENT OF” on the upper-right section and “MOTOR TRANSPORTATION” on its lower-left. At the center is an embossed rendering of a stylized car with vertical wings. At the bottom of this symbol is the text “NORMAN BEL GEDDES © 1933”
