Pleated Fan (France)

This is a Pleated fan. It is dated 1820–30 and we acquired it in 1902. Its medium is paper leaf with hand-colored etching and stipple engraving; carved wood sticks inlaid with steel discs, guards inlaid with mother-of-pearl, steel discs, and stones; mother-of-pearl washer at the rivet. It is a part of the Textiles department.

This object was donated by Mrs. Cadwalader Jones. It is credited Gift of Mrs. Cadwalader Jones.
